Painters of all skill levels are welcome at this new class being taught by Award Winning Artist Heather Coen that will focus on the famous Australian collections here at Boyce Thompson Arboretum. Enrollment of $20 for BTA members and $30 for nonmembers includes a full afternoon's worth of instruction; enrollees will provide their own art supplies.
During the Saturday afternoon workshop Heather Coen will instruct students on how to create a central focus, how to layer your paint or pastels and color harmony.
Bring an easel, your paint supplies, warm clothing (in case of cold), apron and a fresh canvas 11-by-14 or smaller. Water, a hat and sunscreen are suggested. Class is limited to ten students and will be outdoors if weather is clement.
Heather Coen is an award-winning master colorist working in both oils and pastels, and has her work is showing in seven galleries in three states. Juried into 28 National shows in the last 36 months.

Three of Heather H. Coen's paintings were judged into "Top 100" and "Top Mini 50" by Paint America's Paint the Parks competition for 2014. The list of winners is available at Coutt's Museum in Topeka, KS. Two paintings were medium size oils and one was a soft pastel. Heather is one of just a few "Master Signature" members of Paint America.

Heather Coen's oil and pastel paintings are being featured in this solo show of 41 paintings and photographs. The Oz Gallery is located in the Thornton Arts & Culture Center (TACC), 9209 Dorothy Blvd., Thornton, CO 80229. Heather Coen is a realistic master of color, working in both oil and pastels. Currently, her work is in eight galleries in three states. She has been juried into 40 national and international shows in the past 36 months winning many awards. Senator Bennet of Colorado has two of her pastels hanging in his office in Washington, D.C. Included in many magazine articles over the past few years, she was selected as a top United States landscape artist for the Art of West Magazine May 2013 issue. Heather Coen has done it again! She has been invited to the Wyoming Plein Air Event 2010 opening August 1st, 2010 in Cheyenne, WY. Deselms and Link Gallery are hosting this event which is sponsored by Southwest Art among others. Heather will have 14 days to paint in Wyoming and then the paintings are
submitted for jurying. Entries will be posted on Heather's site at www.artintherockies.com.

All five of Heather H. Coen's pastel's qualified for "Pastel's Only" by Richeson and CO. They will be included in the book. Two of the five will be displayed in the Richeson "75" scheduled to begin in January. "High Country" (a waterfall and river scene) and "Night the Olympic Pennisula" (seascape of waves at night with a full moon) have placed in this pretigious show held in Kimberly Wisconsin.

Prestigious Art On Mountain Gallery is hosting Heather H. Coen's opening Friday Dec. 4th. Heather is known for her luminous landscapes in both oil and pastel. As an added incentive, the $100 wall will be started that night as well. All framed oil and pastel paintings will be priced less than $100 on that one wall. This gala event will start at 6:00 and continue until 9:00 that evening. The gallery is located at the corner of College and Mountain Ave. next to Austin Grill at 102 W.
